Halloween Escape Game about witches and a Samhain curse

Event
Storytelling

Curse of the Samhain Witch

A sealed letter reaches you by fox mail. It is from your good friend, Agatha of the witch mountain. She saw a looming curse in her runes, waiting to take effect at the witching hour of Samhain. All life on Earth is about to perish.

Agatha needs your help to break the curse before the last stroke of midnight. Do you have enough ingenuity and magical skill to triumph over the Black Magic, or will you perish miserably?

Materials

For this game, I collected herbs, built shelves, bottled tinctures, collected dead insects during walks, researched spells and designed two books – one about healing and poisonous plants and one about spells. I made a cauldron, created a wand, collected gems and tarot cards and candles. There was a video with an introduction, creepy music and noises, and an old clock ticking away. The whole game room became a gloomy, spooky space not of this world.

Gameplay

The players have 60 minutes to find spells, recipes, and ingredients for brewing a potion and performing a ritual to stop the evil curse. They need to choose a leader to coordinate everything, work together, and communicate really well to achieve numerous tasks on their way to the final spell. The room they play in is a witches house, complete with crooked shelves full of potion bottles, herbs, creepy dead things, magic books and other magical items. They've got a table for mixing ingredients, a cauldron, and a wand once they've managed to open several locks and boxes.

Should the time run out, there might be an unpleasant potion to drink, so they can turn back time for 15 minutes.

But will they still be able to beat the curse?

Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn and caldron bubble.
