I love working with my hands. When I look back at my studies, half of my project work was computer based and half of it handicraft or analogue photography. After I had finished my studies in 2012, I opened a webshop on Dawanda, which is the German counterpart to Etsy. Starting from the theme of Alice in Wonderland, I sold many of my handmade products there.
Many of the products sold on Dawanda are basically the same: dotted clothes for children and women, knit scarves, felt bags, wooden and metal and concrete interior design pieces. I wanted to do my own thing and keep to creating Alice-themed things. Starting off with mini top hats and patterned paper products, I then added felt plushies and finally polymer clay accessories.
As with the products, the corporate identity also springs from Alice in Wonderland. The name “Scrinium et Corax” means “desk and raven”, which of course refers to the famous riddle. Both the desk and the raven are also included in the coat of arms which I then created as a brand logo for my business.
Crisp and colourful photography combined with old paper texture and a slight vintage styling were the foundation of the shop’s corporate design. To emphasise the personal and handmade character of the products, customers always got an additional thank you note, a sticker and a personally chosen business card with their parcel.
Why is a raven like a writing desk?
